About Us

Prakti Pvt Ltd is a certified social enterprise company registered in Singapore, with social/environmental impact as the highest priority. We are an association of DEW Labs (Design and Education for the World Labs), a tax-exempt, non-profit organization registered in the US (EIN: 45-5228729). We believe this unique structure allows us to drive innovation, maximize impact, and engage more impact organizations/professionals!

Our mission is to save lives, empower women, alleviate poverty, and preserve the environment by developing and scaling the adoption of clean, efficient cookstoves that cooks want.

Our teams are based out of the United States, India, and Bulgaria, and we have sold stoves in over 14 countries! We are the first stove company to manufacture our stoves in-house. Having complete control of our manufacturing factory is a unique advantage as we can customize and make stoves very efficiently.

Prakti Stoves have been rated the best stoves on the market and provide a ‘Social Return on Investment (SROI) of $14 per $1 invested.

In addition to producing the world’s finest biomass cookstoves, Prakti has consulted with agencies such as the World Food Programme in countries around the developing world. Prakti is proud to partner with Engineers without Borders, Imperial College London, Ernst & Young, IIT Chennai, and others to provide training and internships for graduate students and young professionals.

  • Mouhsine Serrar

    FOUNDER

    Mouhsine founded a design & innovation organization: DEW, Design and Education for the World. DEW self-incubates innovations with scalable impact. One of the first programs under DEW is Prakti, as one of his many passions is designing clean-burning, fuel-efficient cookstoves for developing countries.

  • Lea Serrar

    MECHANICAL ENGINEER

    Lea Serrar is a Mechanical Engineer passionate about finding impactful solutions to environmental issues. They are a recent graduate from UC Davis with experience in Design for Manufacturability. They also enjoy learning and teaching ecology, geology, and wilderness skills in whatever environment they find themselves in.

  • Leo Taranta-Slack

    PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

    Leo is a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience ranging from solar farms to origami kayaks. He loves nature and people and passionately pursues ways to protect both through design solutions.  Leo relishes getting his hands dirty making prototypes and wholeheartedly believe in testing often, failing regularly, and learning always!

  • Dr. Dale Andreatta

    Sr. RESEARCH ENGINEER

    Dr. Andreatta received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a registered professional engineer.

    Tanya is a digital marketer with diverse experience in project management leading marketing teams and expertise on the technical side of the projects.

    Matt Garrow-Fisher

    PARTNERSHIPS & STRATEGY

    Matt is a British Career Design coach, with experience across a range of disciplines throughout his career, including sales, partnerships, e-commerce and marketing. He loves travel, having visited over 60+ countries and has lived in both Asia and Europe. Matt loves to collaborate with bright individuals that collectively want to make big positive societal and environmental impacts for the world - this is why he volunteers for Prakti!

  • Arshiya Singh

    RESEARCH INTERN

    Arshiya is a high school student in California and a teen environmentalist dedicated to bringing hope and new ideas to decode and tackle the climate catastrophe. She is also into hiking, camping, and wildlife/nature photography.

  • Armaan Raza

    RESEARCH INTERN

    Armaan is a senior high school student in the Bay Area who is deeply interested in studying and advocating for innovative public health solutions that serve marginalized and rural communities. A skilled debater, Armaan brings his research and critical thinking skills to help Prakti explore new markets in the developing world. In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing and drumming.
